Libraries ...

.... Small or Big, Ordinary or Unusual

On Monday 22/5/2017 three girls from SEKUNDA visited the municipal library in Vysoké Mýto and interviewed the librarian, Mgr. E. J. Find the interview below ( the password is written in the teachers´ room in the project twinspace).

Here are the ten questions that we asked the librarian in English.

How old is this library?
How long has it been in this building and where was it before that?
How many departments does it have?
How many books are in there in the library?
How many readers are registered here?
What do people have to do when they want to borrow books here?
Are there any rules that people must respect?
How many readers do usually come a day?
How old is the youngest reader and how old is the oldest reader?

Besides lending books, are there any events?

A lecture and workshop in the library

On Thursday 15/6/2017 thirty students of SEKUNDA class went to the library to take part in a workshop about fables. This workshop is one of the many oofered by the local library to the schools. The librarian talked about both the Czech and European fable writers. After that the pupils spent some time exploring the library. Some of them are members of this library so they know it very well, others are from the neighbouring city or villages and attend libraries there, others were encouraged to start coming and borrowing books here. The lecture and workshop were part of the Czech literature class and we would like to thank the librarian Mgr. Eva Jánová for her iteresting talk and a great performance.

Knihobudky (bookboxes) found by the Czech team

GVM CR team has uploaded a short video about "bookboxes". The first one is in fact a small book case in the waiting room at the railway stop in the town of Vysoké Mýto where our school is located, the second is in the park at the railway station in the neighbouring town of Choceň from which a lot of our students come and commute to school by train, and the last is from the town of Dobříš that has a chateax which used to be the residence of Czechoslovak writers :-) :-) :-).

After watching our video, you can try our quiz. :-) :-) :-)
